Bettoja Hotels has a history of over a century: originating in Piedmont, the Bettoja Family has been active for five generations in the hospitality business since 1875.

The adventure began with the acquisition of the Restaurant Massimo D'Azeglio, so called in honour of the great statesman and writer; later, with the development in the area of the Termini Station, the Bettoja family decided to buy the rest of the building and transform it into a hotel - the Hotel Massimo D'Azeglio. The second addition was the Hotel Mediterraneo, which was followed by the Hotel Atlantico and finally the Hotel Nord Nuova Roma, just after WW1. The Relais Certosa Hotel in Florence was purchased in 1988.

The Group today has over 730 rooms in 5 hotels, which are periodically updated while still maintaining their traditional atmosphere. The four hotels in Rome are in the downtown area, near the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Roman Museum, and Termini Railway Station. During the past years, the railway station, and the entire surrounding area has undergone a phase of great development with significant cultural and commercial investments. Other major points of historical interest can be found in the immediate vicinity.

In Florence, the beautiful Hotel Relais Certosa, a villa built in 1400 as the guest quarters for the Certosa Monastery, is surrounded by 15 acres of a park-like setting, has been transformed into a Bettoja Group Hotel, and boasts a view of the medieval Certosa Monastery.
Today, Bettoja Hotels is one of the largest privately-owned family hotel chain in Italy. The 730 rooms of the group offer a vast range of possibilities, from luxurious suites at the Mediterraneo to the convenient single rooms at the Hotel Nord Nuova Roma. Bettoja Hotels offer their leisure and business guests the most modern and comfortable conveniences.

The Bettoja tradition of excellent service and cuisine has been passed down through five generations; even among their personnel, you will easily find employees whose father and grandfather worked at the same hotel!

The President of the group is Angelo Bettoja, a genial and experienced host, together with his American wife Jo, who is an expert in Italian cooking and the author of several acclaimed cook books, who has integrated Italian culture with her Southern United States roots.
All of the Bettojas bring their experience from such diverse fields as business, communications, architecture and Art History in the hospitality business.

For those guests arriving by car in Rome, the Bettoja Hotel Group has an underground garage available at Hotel Mediterraneo. The Relais Certosa in Florence offers ample outside parking in front of the Hotel.
